EW:Speaking of a new musical movement, how do you feel about re-entering a musical landscape that's getting overloaded with female vocalists in an era with virtually no successful female rappers?

Eve:In some ways, it's hard. But in other ways, it almost is like I kinda feel like it was when I first came out. Even though there were two females that were in the forefront, but at the same time, there was nobody I felt, in my opinion, like me that came out, so I feel like I'm starting all over. I feel like a new artist again.

EW:You already talked about this a little bit when you were talking about Gwen and Fergie, but I want to go back to it: How tough is it to be a female rapper in today's musical climate? Is it tougher than when you released your first album? When/what was the turning point?

Eve:I don't think it's hard. I don't look at it as hard 'cause I think I'm better than half these dudes that's out. Some of these dudes can't rap. And I hate to say it like that. [Laughs]

Next up: Missy. Her dancers materialized on stage while Eve stands stage left sipping coffee, watching a pint-sized breakdancer who can't be more than six years old do backflips. It's the apex of hip-hop diva-dom. The crew begins its medley with Tweet, killing the 'The Rain'. Eve's wheeled out decked in beauty parlor gear to play on the classic line 'get your nails done, get a pedicure, get your hair did' from 'Work It', then goes straight into 'Hot Boys', the first track that Eve and Missy ever worked on together. Keyshia Cole joins Eve on stage for 'Get Ur Freak On',before Ciara channels some Control-era Janet Jackson for 'Lose Control', 2005's summer anthem. When the number ended, all the ladies connected, Keyshia Cole saying hello to Tweet and giving Ciara a hug.

Rapper/actress EVE has had her album pushed back yet again - her new LP HERE I AM will now be released next year (08). The Let Me Blow Your Mind star, 28, was due to finally drop her fourth disc on 16 October (07), after a two month delay - but fans will now have to wait even longer before they can get their hands on her first studio album in five years. Eve's record label, Geffen, have not given a reason for the delay.
