When Eve breezes into New York Adorned, a tattoo parlor on Manhattan's Lower East Side, to consult with her tat artist, Kat, I'm nervous. Recently in the news for totaling her gold Maserati in an alleged DUI, Eve has a tough-girl reputation that suggests she wouldn't be out of place in a prison cell. In 1999, as the only woman in the hip-hop group the Ruff Ryders, she earned a reputation as a "pit bull in a skirt" (her words).

Eve is set to host Vibe Magazine's kindler, gentler celebration of all things urban on November 14, when VH1 Soul airs the first annual VH1 Soul Presents: Vibe Awards Special. The show is formatted much like its UPN-aired predecessor with categories such as R&B Voice of the Year and the Next Award being replaced by the more traditional R&B Artist of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards.

Philadelphia rapper Eve is planning a move behind the scenes in Hollywood with the formation of a new movie production company she hopes will be fruitful in later years.

"I still read scripts regularly and I actually have a movie production company that I'm developing with two of my girlfriends right now," Eve told AllHipHop.com. "I love movies and acting so when I'm ready for kids and marriage later on, I want it to be my stability and my life."
